First Day of School!

They are all in school.  I feel so old!  Estelle was so excited to finally be in Kindergarten.  She got all dressed in the morning and was feeling good.  Then, two minutes before we leave for school she burst into tears, "My outfit is just not right for the first day.  I cannot wear this."  Okay, maybe I would expect this from a girl in middle school, but Kindergarten?  It was hilarious, but slightly concerning at the same time.  She changed and was happy with her second choice and all smiles again.

She loved her first day of school. She loves her teachers and her friends she is making.  She was so excited to show us her folder with her name on it at the end of the day.

Hector took the day off and we all walked to and from school together.  It was fun dropping them all off in their classrooms.  Everyone had a great first day!

More Summer Fun

Our Summer Fun did not end just because volleyball started.  We still found time for lots of fun activities.  Plus, the girls really loved coming to volleyball this summer.  I asked them if they wanted me to set up play dates for them during morning practice time in August.  They said no.  They did great at the gym every day.  Sometimes we would stay after and they would want me to toss balls to them.  They are starting to pick it up a little; they all think they are awesome volleyball players now.  I really enjoy working with them.  Estelle loves the volleyball managers and thinks they are her best friends.  Sienna likes to boss the high school girls around.  One day the cheerleaders left their megaphone in the gym.  Sienna used is all practice.  During a drill we would hear this bellowing voice, "Call mine before you pass."  "Go for the ball."  Sienna is awesome!

One of the girls' assignments this summer was to do service projects.  We watched my friend's daughter a couple of times for her.  The girls learned a little about babysitting and had fun playing with a two year old.  They loved it.

Natalia earned a date with Dad.  We did more jump roping and the girls went to Home Depot with Hector.  They love the craft workshops so much!  Hector and I went on a couple of dates.  We went to a concert (Lindsey Sterling and Evanescence), played Frisbee golf one night, went out to eat a couple times and this last weekend we saw a play in DC.  It is good to have a little kid free summer fun too.

Most things we did with the kids though.  We went to the splash pad and playground and finally did our snapping turtle fishing.  We also had a family night at the pool. They put up a screen and watched a movie while lounging in the pool.  We spent as much time as we could at the pool this summer.  We love it.

We found some time for outdoor adventures too.  We did some hiking.  Natalia complained so much when we told her we were going.  Then the whole hike, she kept saying, "this is fun.  I love hiking."

Seriously, my kids a freakish obsession with mini golf.  We should just get them clubs.

The girls played around the house a ton too.  They really got into the barter system this summer and then that turned into playing store.  They were constantly setting up stores to sale their trinkets to each other.  I only realized a couple days ago that Estelle is totally out of money because her big sisters convinced her spend over $30.00 on their junk.  We have since banned "playing store" with real money in our house.  Now they put out junk and make signs, "free stuff...please take"

The girls also love to do Zero Dark Thirty with Hector.  He wakes them up in the middle of the night to work out.  They think it is the coolest thing in the world.  They only did it a couple times because they are so tired in the morning.

We also went and watched Grandpa compete in a triathlon one Saturday.  It was fun cheering him on.

Over all it was a great summer.  The kids were ready for school to start, but we were sad that summer was over to.  I love summer time with my girls.
